09,00 – 17,00 X. Green Day of the Croatian Chamber of Architects „In cooperation with nature“

Ever since we can remember, our lives have been linked to the planet Earth. We watched people go to the universe, walk on the moon, spend everlonger periods of time in space, but the joy of returning to the home planet has always been more than obvious. Futuristic concepts of conquering distant planets are tempting and create an appearance of the superiority of human race, but life for us is realistic only on the blue planet. Raising awareness of the environment is one of the key tasks of our generation and of those that will follow. Humans are the masters of Earth in every sense of the word. Everything we take must also be given back – only then is it possible to have balance on this planet. Preserving the environment includes different approaches - from proper waste management and recycling of everyday garbage through recycling building material - either by reusing the existing resources or by merely recycling construction waste - to careful use of natural materials. Mass production, in any form, feeds our consumerism practices and entails excessive exploitation of natural resources in other parts of the world. Our progress at the expense of others is not sustainable in the long run. This 10th Green Day of Croatian Chamber of Architects, shall focus on our environment that needs all our orientation. This event will include the regenerative processes in urbanism, space, detail and materials. Through showcasing predominantly Croatian examples, we want to demonstrate that environmental concerns are not just a future trend, but also a topic in realization here and now.
