In the playroom „Let's Talk about Energy and preserve the environment" the youngest generations will learn about energy,  why it is important for all of us and how everybody, even the youngest among us, can contribute to the rational energy use, prevention of global warming and to environment protection. Through playing, discussions, drawing, coloring, creating breadboard models of windmills and other activities, all kindergartens in the City of Zagreb area will actively participate in the Zagreb Energy Week program.

09,00 – 13,30  Zagreb University – Expert forum – „We have the solutions – visions of new generations for green development“

Students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering and Faculty of Traffic and Transport Sciences will present their scientific projects and seminars on the application of new technologies in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing shall open its door for visiting groups of pupils, students, expert associations and citizens. The visitors shall be informed on the topics concerning the measurement of energy and water consumption in buildings, the impact of distributed – renewable sources on voltage quality, a round table on the topic of the expected medium term development of the power system in Croatia as well as allowed to visit some laboratories.

10,00 – 11,00  Presentation „Using wind energy in small wind powerplants“

The Electromechanical Vocational school shall present using wind energy to small wind power in their Cabinet for renewable energy sources and modern technology in electrical installation. The visitors and pupils shall be able to see equipment for the production of electricity using low power wind turbines installed in the school yard.

09,00 – 11,00  Lecture „Basic KNX module“

As part of the project „Modernization of school curricula in vocational schools in accordance with the shifting needs of job/economy market Energy efficiency – KNX module“, conducted by the Electromechanical Vocational school with their partners Technical School of Civil-Engineering, Vocational school Sisak and the City Office for Education, Culture and Sports, educated teachers and lecturers from Zagreb vocational schools will hold lectures on the basic KNX module and energy efficiency for pupils in the City of Zagreb vocational schools. The target group includes third grades of vocational schools and second grades of trade schools.

The association DOOR (Society for Sustainable Development) shall organize a workshop for interested citizens.  The workshop is designed as a "playground" for adults with educational tools on the subject of energy.

08,00 – 16,00  Elementary Schools: Learning through playing the game "Tell me about Energy"

All first grades of Zagreb elementary schools will hold classes entitled „Tell me about energy“ and the

teachers will, by means of a picture book and an educational game, teach the children  about the need and manner of saving energy, energy efficiency and renewable  energy sources.  Furthermore, the elementary school pupils will, through discussions on this topic, express their own ideas, activities, drawings and essays on how they think energy can be rationally used and saved.

The City Office for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development shall organize a workshop as part of the project TOGETHER for the representatives of the kindergartens and primary schools involved in the project. The project aims to improve energy efficiency in public buildings based on a change of the users' behavior and education of building users, while also monitoring the savings results by way of smart tools for monitoring energy consumption.

The City of Zagreb Technical museum Nikola Tesla shall open its door to visits of pupils, students, expert associations and citizens. In cooperation with the partners, the museum shall hold a great number of events - presentations, workshops and lectures - during the entire day in the permanent exhibition space, the theatre and in the area in front of the museum.

13,00 – 14,30 Round table "Importance of transversal skills for Green jobs and green economy"

The Craft College - institution for adult education, The Chamber of Trades and Crafts and the Association of Craftsmen of the City of Zagreb shall hold a round table about ACROSS project for their members and other interested craftsmen and entrepreneurs. The project views the transformation of jobs into “green jobs” as a cross-sectorial overhaul of traditional jobs in transforming/restructuring sectors and the development of innovative, technology- and efficiency-driven new jobs, in traditional sectors also. The project focuses on two main tenets: sustainable development in the so-called green economies and the appraisal of transversal skills as portable skills in times of high unemployment and restructuring.

All City of Zagreb secondary schools will hold a lesson in first grades concerning the need for energy savings, rational use of energy, fight against global warming and adaptation to climate change caused by the actions of man and man's influence on the use of natural energy sources.

EU representatives and the representatives of Croatian ministries and institutions will participate at the international conference entitled “Smart energy solutions for sustainable development“. The conference shall deal with issues connected with reaching joint EU targets in order to follow the EU policy and energy-climate frame up to 2050 towards energy more efficient, low-carbon and more competitive market development, attracting new investment and a better life quality for the citizens.

LEED® is a construction ranking system designed by the American Green Building Association. When launched, the LEED was the first national system of its kind in the world and now there are over 100 different systems of certification in countries worldwide. The aim and purpose of the LEED program and education is strengthening of the green building system market through applications based on the „consensus-based“ standards and providing a clear criterion for measuring impact on buildings during and after construction. LEED® provides an independent verification by third parties that the construction project is ecologically responsible, profitable and offers a healthy living and working environment. The Croatian Green Building Association is organizing the LEED v4 Building Design and Construction (BD+C) Rating System one-day course which will be held on May 10, 2017 in Zagreb. The course shall cover the practical aspects of working on LEED projects, including the process of certification, fees, expenses, meeting consultant requests and the best practices worldwide! The education shall be held by Vessela Valtcheva-McGee, a lecturer with a great experience from the international projects field. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture shall open the door of its laboratories for renewable sources of energy to expert visits by representatives of crafts and entrepreneurs, representatives of local self-government units, groups of pupils, students, expert associations and citizens. The visitors shall be able to see a new examination system with geothermal heat pump that is used for cooling and heating of two classrooms, solar photovoltaic and collector systems, a small wind power plant, fuel cells and hydrogen production as an alternative fuel using renewable energy and the operation of the biomass boiler. The visit to laboratories will be preceded by presentations of the said technologies in the faculty classrooms.

09,00 – 13,00 Project „#Rule 6- A safe embrace“  

Knowing that in the last couple of years, the children have been often victims as passengers in their parents' vehicles, the Croatian Auto Club has created the project „#Rule 6- A safe embrace“ . The project takes a look into the aspects of child transportation in cars, i.e. the use of child seats. The Croatian Auto Club and its partners shall, on May 12, 2017, start a national campaign on responsible driver conduct and present a preventive-educational program „See and click“ for the preschool children, the results of research into driver conduct, the results of testing child seats and the awarded short films on the use of child seats.

09,00 – 17,00 6th meeting of the National qualification platform for continuous training of construction workers in energy efficiency

The meeting is part of a project CROSKILLS - Life-long training of construction workers in the area of ​​energy efficiency, which aims to establish a national program of training and certification of construction workers in the field of energy efficiency, in 6 major building occupations for which there is need - plasterer, roofer, installer drywall , painter, carpenter and bricklayer. The project, based on national guidelines supported twenty sectoral institutions and organizations, made the teaching materials, selected 12 training centers across the Croatian and trained hundreds of trainers who will conduct the training of workers, and has drafted "Regulations on the system of training and certification construction workers who built parts of the building that affect energy efficiency in buildings ", which is to be adopted, and soon will start the first education of workers. The meeting is a part of regular consultation events which bring together representatives of professional organizations, national institutions, professional organizations and associations in the sectors of construction, energy and education in an informal consultative body of the project, the so-called National qualification platforms.
